At Samaritan we prioritize our involvement in the community. By doing so, we gain the opportunity to decrease the stigma surrounding mental health, start conversations, and provide resources.
We attended the Interview Seminar at Nederland High School where graduating seniors got a chance to test out their interview skills. This seminar allowed seniors to participate in mock, one-on-one interviews to prepare for real interviews and to get some nerves out of the way! This also gave us a chance to meet some amazing students with bright futures ahead of them!
Youth Career Expo
We spent a day at the Youth Career Expo talking with high school students from the SETX area about what we do at Samaritan and mental health. We asked them to write down something they want other kids their age to know and then added it to our board. Scroll through the photos to the left to check out what they said! We felt so inspired by the kind words and stories they shared that day!
State of Education Luncheon
At this luncheon, we learned about everything Port Arthur offers its community and students. We also got to hear from speakers Dr. Betty Reynard, Dr. Mark Porterie and Senator Brandon Creighton. The number of students and faculty working to improve this community was exciting for the future of Port Arthur!
On Valentine’s Day we spent our morning as flower delivery volunteers! We teamed up with St. Charles Catholic Church and The Cherry Tree Florists to delivery joy and raise money for the St. Charles Youth. This was a great chance for us to see the happiness throughout our community!
Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors
We partnered with The Groves Fire Department and Port Neches-Groves High School to deliver smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to students at Port Neches-Groves High School. Fireman Pete showed the students how to assemble the detector and shared some fire safety tips!
